The Pediatric Respiratory Society, Delhi, was formally established on 04.09.2005. It is a society dedicated towards the well-being of respiratory health of neonates and children up to the age of 18 years. The focus of this Society is to provide regular updates to pediatricians on the recent research and therapeutics in the field of Pediatric Pulmonologist, by holding CMEs, and bimonthly PRS meetings. It also hosts an annual event “Delhi Respicon” since 2016. Additionally. since last year, 2022 a Quarterly “Journal of Pediatric Respirology” is being published.

The other focus of Society is to increase public health awareness for optimizing and improving the health of our children, for which various parent education programs, school health talks, free health checks & spirometry camps are conducted.

The Patrons & Founder members of our chapter are eminent & distinguished Pediatric Pulmonologists of India: Dr. Krishan Chugh – Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram; Dr. G.R. Sethi - Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, Dr. S.K. Kabra – AIIMS, Delhi; Dr. Varinder Singh – Lady Hardinge Medical College & Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, Delhi & Dr. A.K. Sharma - Senior Consultant Pediatrician. At the time of establishing the society, Dr. Krishan Chugh was the national president of IAP-Respiratory chapter and Dr. Varinder Singh was the national secretary of IAP Respiratory chapter. Dr. A. K Sharma became the first President, Dr. Vineet Sehgal the first secretary of the society and Dr. Tilak Raj Dangwal the first finance secretary.

The core group members at that time were Dr. Rakesh Lodha, Dr. L.N.Taneja, Dr. Mandeep Walia, Dr. Jasmeet Kaur, Dr. Dhiren Gupta and Dr. Anil Sachdev.
