About Us

Indian Academy of Pediatrics is an academy of Pediatricians meaning doctors who care for children from birth to 18 years of age. There are various chapters of this academy which are involved in caring different ailments in children.Respiratory diseases are the most common disease for which parents take their child to a child specialist.

The Respiratory chapter of Indian Academy of Pediatrics deals with Respiratory ailments in children.The main work of IAP Respiratory chapter is to sensitise Pediatricians regarding different respiratory ailments in children.

This chapter tries to update the knowledge of Pediatrcians from time to time regarding Respiratory diseases in children,so that the children suffering from these diseases can get maximum benefit.

 IAP- Respiratory chapter Delhi was formally established on 04.09.2005. with the idea of sensitising the Pediatricians of Delhi for respiratory diseases in children which is the largest burden in Delhi.

The Patrons of the chapter were the eminent Pediatric Pulmonologists of India and fortunately they were working in different institutions of Delhi.

They were:

1.DR. S.K.KABRA -AIIMS NEW DELHI

2.DR.G.R.SETHI- MAMC DELHI

3.DR.VARINDER SINGH-LHMC AND KSCH DELHI

4.DR.KRISHAN CHUGH-SGRH DELHI

Dr. K.Chugh was the national president of IAP-Respiratory chapter and Dr.Varinder Singh was national secretary of  IAP Respiratory chapter at that time.

Dr.A..K. Sharma was made President of IAP Respiratory chapter Delhi.

Dr.Vineet Shehgal was made secretary of IAP Respiratory chapter Delhi.

Dr.Tilak Raj Dangwal was made secretary finance of IAP Respiratory chapter Delhi.

The core group members at that time were Dr.Rakesh Lodha, Dr.L.N.Taneja, Dr.Mandeep Walia, Dr.Jasmeet Kaur, Dr.Dhiren Gupta and Dr.Anil Sachdev

By the passes of time ,many Pediatricians with keen interest in Pulmonology became members of IAP respiratory chapter Delhi and they were Dr.Devkinandan, Dr.Rakesh Dogra, Dr. Ankit Parakh, Dr. Kamal Singhal, Dr.Dhulika Dhingra, Dr.Kana Ram Jat Dr.D.K.Jha, and Dr. Hema Mittal,

The chapter holds bimonthly clinical meetings with the idea of updating the knowledge of Pediatricians in the field of Pulmonology.The meeting starts with the beginning of each year at AIIMS and then the venue circulates between various institutions like KSCH,RMLH,SGRH,MAMC(not now after retirement of Dr.G.R.Sethi),CNBC,HRH,  and Max Patparganj.

The name of IAP Respiratory chapter Delhi has been changed to Pediatric Respiratory Society Delhi in 2016.
